Aquatic exercise increases muscular strength and endurance.
This is important for:
- strength and power for other activities
- a safer, more injury-free body
- stronger bones and
tendons
- a more fat-free body
- boost to the immune system
- increase in heart/lung capacity
The multidirectional resistance of water works muscle endurance continually as the arms and
legs push and pull through the water. The natural resistance of water, which is a minimum of 12 times
more resistant than air, can be used as built-in equipment, and the workload can be increased.
At rest, 1 lb. of muscle requires at least 30 calories per day.
During exercise: much more! Carrying less body fat is
important in order to maintain better overall health
and to ward off obesity-related diseases.
